Nestling at the foot of the South Downs, the sea often visible just a few miles distant, the picturesque venue was the scene of legendary battles between great heroes from 1948 through to 1966. Brabham, McLaren, Surtees, Moss, Gurney, Fangio, Gonzalez, Salvadori, Hawthorn, Farina, Bira, Collins, Parnell, Graham Hill, Phil Hill, Clark, Ireland, de Fraffenried, Taruffi, Fairman, Hamilton, Brooks, Shelby, Bonnier, Gendebien, Von Trips, Trintignant, Parkes, Gregory, Sears, Amon, Hall, Penske, Stewart, Courage... the list goes on and on. And they drove everything here from diminutive 500cc Coopers to the then greatest jewels of sports car and Grand Prix racing.
