No Miami, no Indian Wells and above all no French Open – tennis star Roger Federer has had to cancel his participation in the tennis tournaments over the next few weeks. The 38-year-old had decided to undergo surgery on Wednesday due to persistent knee problems. The Swiss announced this on Twitter.
The doctors advised him to heal his knee in peace, Federer said. So he decided to cancel his appearances in favor of knee surgery in the next few weeks. This also applies to the tournaments in Dubai and Bogota for which Federer was registered. In Wimbledon, however, the current third in the world rankings (his current interview with SPIEGEL can be found here ) obviously wants to be back to complete the famous lawn tournament: “I can’t wait to play again soon, we’ll see you on grass “he tweeted.
The 20-time major winner, who was last eliminated in the semifinals at the Australian Open, had already waived the sand season in 2017 and 2018. The record winner could celebrate his comeback at the tournament in Halle / Westphalia from June 13th to 21st.
